Our History

Conceived as the most ambitious element of Proyecto Nebulosa, HBG has a transversal impact with the rest of the components of this multimark project; under the essence of environmental conservation and sustainable development for the Sierra Madre region in the state of Jalisco.

Recognizing the importance and exceptional location, Ing. Salvador Galindo, founder of the garden, decides to create Haravéri in situ botanical garden, as a first strategy of conservation and research of the flora of the region.

From december 2016 to present, botanical explorations have been carried out with the purpose of determining the species presents in the area, and carrying out an adequate management of the site that allows it to be recognize as a different initiative characterized by its respect for nature, promoting new strategies for regional use and at the same time dinamize the local economy with a rescue vision of knowledge and flavors.

About us

Our mission is to promote the natural identity of the area, the protection and conservation of ecosystems through scientific research and the sustainable use of natural resources. With a vision that allow us to position Haravéri Botanical garden as an example in the conservation and research of natural resources, coexistence with respect and harmony with the environment.

To achieve this we have as objectives:

  • Promote the sustainable use and in situ conservation of the diversity of cloud forest.
  • Contribute to the generation and transmission of knowledge about plant diversity

Founder

The engineer José Salvador Galindo, founder of Haravéri botanical garden, was born in December 2, 1959 in Xalisco, Nayarit. From an early age, he show a unique interest in plants, which led him to study the career of agronomy at the Autonomous University of Chapingo. For 7 years, he dedicated his life to the study of plants.

Thanks to his love for plants and his creativity, he decides to make the botanical garden in order to conserve the region and give the community a unique opportunity to know and learn about the cloud forest.
